Freelance copy editor, MTV News (New York): MTV is looking to add a Freelance Copy Editor to work with news, features, and other editorial projects for MTV News Online. Departmental Responsibilities: *Day-to-day editing of online news stories, features and reviews, which includes line editing, copy editing, fact checking, editing for content of music, movies and pop culture news. *Writing multiple headlines, summaries, promos and any other misc. copy. *Developing and maintaining an appropriate voice and tone to correspond with audience''s interest and attitude; also working directly with writers to develop and maintain voice and tone, stressing the importance of connecting with our target audience. *Contributing to daily news meetings and brainstorming functions. *Staying on top of what''s happening on MTV as well as the greater issues, trends and personalities that are important to our audience. Required Qualification/Skills: Must have a minimum of 3 years copy editing experience in a deadline driven environment, familiarity with the AP style guide, good writing skills, and a solid familiarity with MTV-centric music, films, and pop culture required.
